Prior to the Godbomb, the Sigzlorian nation of Dzvie was considered as zealous and fanatical as its modern near-neighbor, Wraz, and their country was illuminated with all sorts of light even long into the night to demonstrate their piety. With the death of Elamadi the Lightfont, however, Dzvie has gone dark, for they now refuse to create or make use of any artificial light whatsoever. Even their computers and other electronic devices are without backlights, and the usage of spells that create light is expressly forbidden; when the sun goes down, Dzvie will create no light whatsoever. The precise origin of this repulsion against artificial light is unclear -- some will cite it as atonement for not protecting their beloved god, and others view it as simply a symbol of deference to a god they believe will someday return and "return Dzvie's light". Violating this basic aspect of Dzvie's culture is cause for social ostracization at best, and in more extreme cases, the offender might be jailed for a short time for "disrupting the peace".

The most devoted of Dzvie's people dwell in underground caverns and swamps where the tangled canopies block out light, leaving them to live meager lives in utter darkness. These people are few in number, but Dzvie's religious populace regards these people as the only prophets of the Lightfont to still exist. Those who reject all light in the world that is not Elamadi are the ones who can best discern the "true light" from all "false light". Most who live in these conditions were born into it, but there are occasionally people that forsake living in civilization and, in the words of the Dzviens, cast off the false light of the sun, moon, and stars to await Elamadi's return.
