While most lands were destroyed by the Godbomb, Newland was created by it. This enormous land rose out of the ocean in the wake of the apocalypse, yet when hopeful explorers and colonists reached its shores, they found it was already inhabited by a wide variety of monsters that mostly kept to the mountain ranges that occupied the central parts of Newland. Some small settlements have flourished in Newland, but the island remains mostly "untamed"; colonizing it is an overall low priority for the Alamo Empire as opposed to bringing in already-existing nations into the imperial fold.
People seeking a new start for whatever reason may take to the shores of Newland, as the people already there will never turn away able help. There is a culture of not asking after "previous lives" from before coming to Newland, and some may take on new names or identities entirely to symbolize being "reborn" into the land created by the Godbomb.
