Once beloved by a small town called Alectum and revered as the "Amadeo" for her divine healing ability, Ophelia Altarkeep realized too late that her fixation on herself and her sudden fame resulted in disaster for her younger sister, Emilia Altarkeep. By the time she set out to find Emilia after the latter was exiled for "consorting with the hells," Ophelia soon found herself progressively losing her free will more and more to the true source of her powers, a devil that she calls the Enforcer of Contracts. In her moments of lucidity, she tried valiantly to find Emilia, but as time went on, she became little more than a hollow shell with no personality of her own. When the Enforcer controlled her, his will was hers; when she was in control, all that mattered was ensuring Emilia was safe.
An encounter with Leah Lovell seems to have intrinsically tied their destinies together, and Ophelia presently holds a sword named Arkadi's Answer, a gift from Leah's older sister that can ward off the Enforcer's influence. Alongside both Leah and Arkadi's Answer, Ophelia is working with Drisa at the behest of the Enforcer, chasing the promise that if she sees through Drisa's goals, both Ophelia and Emilia will be free from the Enforcer.
