Panepimio tou Xsyfous, often translated as "Academy of the Soulblade," is a roufira-run institution on the planet of Volipatria. Dedicated to the union of weaponry and magic, the Academy is subject to perhaps the most scrutiny of any institution under The Moonslight Accord. Despite this increased scrutiny, however, the Academy has yet to require intervention by the Accord in all its years.
Though its focus is often criticized as "overly narrow," the Academy has sufficient flow of new students and staff to keep itself operational regardless. New student admission is low, as the Academy does its best to remain small, and graduation is based on personal advancement, not time spent in the Academy. As such, there are typically no more than twelve students in the Academy at any given time, and rarely do any graduate at the same time as each other.
Gavrais the Clever founded the Academy 310 years ago, in light of his discovery of a process of partial soul harvesting. This process led to the creation of the first Black Blades, and in turn to the Academy itself. While the curriculum has branched out since then, the primary alums of the Academy are still Blade Adepts or Bladebound, though other magic users who fit the school's focus (such as the unconventional Armorists) do appear from time to time.
