Ygripetra is a rare material in the Vistelo galaxy. Also colloquially known as "touched ore", it is a resilient metal that works as a conductor of magic. Through its use, rachnia architects developed the first instances of magical technology. Ygripetra is most often used to make a form of magical wiring to allow enchantments to be added to complex technology without interfering with its mechanisms, but in more extreme cases has been used to make entirely magical machines.
Most ygripetra is mined in the depths of Istos Eremia, though as the knowledge of its uses has spread, deposits on all three planets have been searched for and found, leading some to wonder what, exactly creates this ore. In particular, massive deposits of ygripetra were found beneath the nation of Vruikt Barr, and it was their refusal to allow its mining that spurred the War of Fire.
